Reflexology
Reflexology is a gentle, non-invasive complementary therapy based on the principle that specific points on the feet, hands, face or ears correspond to different areas of the body. Using thumb and finger techniques, a reflexologist applies focused pressure to these reflex points to encourage relaxation, support wellbeing, and help the body restore its natural balance.
Many people find reflexology deeply calming and helpful during times of stress or emotional overwhelm. While reflexology does not diagnose or cure medical conditions, it may promote a sense of relaxation and ease, which can have a positive effect on overall wellbeing.
Each session is tailored to you, taking into account your lifestyle and wellness goals. Whether you’re seeking a moment of peace, improved sleep, or emotional support, reflexology offers a nurturing space to unwind and reconnect.
Reflexology is suitable for most adults. People come for many different reasons — to relax, to manage everyday stress, to support their general wellbeing, or simply to take some time for themselves.
Reflexology is a gentle and non-invasive therapy that is generally suitable for most people, including children, adults, the elderly, and those experiencing stress, fatigue, or emotional overwhelm. It’s often chosen as a natural way to support relaxation and wellbeing.
That said, there are some circumstances where reflexology may need to be adapted or avoided — for example, acute infections, or if there are specific medical conditions such as blood clots or uncontrolled diabetes. As a professionally trained reflexologist, I always carry out a full consultation before your first session to ensure reflexology is appropriate for you.
Your comfort and safety are my top priority, and treatments are always tailored to your individual needs.
All services are available to women aged 18 and over
A brief health consultation is carried out before every first appointment — please mention any health conditions, allergies or skin sensitivities, even if you are unsure whether they are relevant
There are some circumstances where a treatment may not be appropriate or where adaptations may be needed — I will always be honest with you about what is suitable for you personally
Reflexology is not currently available during pregnancy or for women who are trying to conceive — please speak to your GP or midwife for guidance on appropriate options
If you have any questions about suitability before booking, please just get in touch — I am always happy to have that conversation.
The short answer — come as you are.
There is no dress code at Aroma Therapie Suite and no special preparation required. Here is a quick guide depending on what you are coming for:
Reflexology — comfortable, loose clothing and clean feet. That is genuinely all. No need to book a pedicure first — I am a nurse, I have seen everything. Facial Reflexology - if you are booked for this treatment please can you remove makeup in advance of appointment.
Your first appointment will begin with a brief consultation, where I will ask about your general health and what you're hoping to get from the session. You'll then relax in a comfortable chair or on a treatment couch while I work on your preferred treatment area (feet, face, hands or ears) using gentle, precise pressure. Subsequent appoints will begin with a review of consultation and any changes to previous appointment. Following treatment you will receive aftercare advice.
Everyone experiences reflexology differently — and that is part of what makes it so personal. Many people feel a profound sense of calm during the session itself, as though the weight of the day has quietly lifted. Others notice the effects afterwards — sleeping more deeply, feeling less reactive to stress, or simply carrying themselves a little more lightly.
Some of what clients most commonly share after a session:
A deep sense of relaxation and release of tension held in the body
Feeling calmer, clearer and more settled in themselves
Improved sleep, particularly when stress or anxiety has been affecting rest
A lifted mood and refreshed outlook
Simply having taken time — properly, without guilt — for themselves
Reflexology will not be the same experience twice, and it will not be the same for every person. What it consistently offers is a dedicated, nurturing space where you are looked after and nothing is asked of you.
Reflexology initiates a process of rebalancing in the body that continues after your session ends. To support this process and get the most from your treatment, the following aftercare is recommended:
Drink plenty of water — hydration is important after reflexology to support the body's natural processes. Aim to drink more water than usual for the remainder of the day.
Rest where possible — many people feel deeply relaxed, a little sleepy or emotionally lighter after a session. This is a normal and positive response. Where you can, allow yourself time to rest rather than rushing back into a demanding schedule.
Avoid alcohol — ideally for the remainder of the day following your session.
Avoid strenuous exercise — give your body time to respond to the treatment before returning to intense physical activity.
Eat lightly — if possible avoid a heavy meal immediately after your session.
Notice how you feel — some people experience an immediate sense of calm and wellbeing. Others notice changes gradually over the following day or two — improved sleep, reduced tension or a lighter mood. Both are completely normal responses.
Reactions — occasionally people notice what is sometimes called a healing response following reflexology — temporary symptoms such as increased tiredness, more frequent urination, heightened emotions or mild headache. These are generally short-lived and are considered a normal part of the body's rebalancing process. If you have any concerns, please get in touch.
The benefits of reflexology tend to build with regular treatment. A course of sessions is often more beneficial than a one-off appointment — I will discuss this with you at your consultation.
